This is a flowchart I produced many years ago to show how a residential college could plan for the future. I was then Vice Principal of Emmanuel College at The University of Queensland - a place where some 330 under and post graduates found a home.
We aimed to give them more than a dorm or hall of residence - ie, a place where they could make the most of their university time by developing their spiritual [Uniting and Presbyterian College], social and sporting graces, whilst at the same time achieving the best degree possible. There was an administrative staff, standards to be maintained, and selection to be achieved - applications were usually in the order of 4 to 1.
The chart is largely self-explanatory - call me if there is anything you would like elaborating. The organisational goals are achieved by developing the environment and the facilities - these include pastoral, social and cultural aspects. Each of these is developed in more detail on page 2, just as a company would break down its mission statement into elements appropriate to each department. The aim of this plan was to show Council, staff and students what was desired, what was possible, and what could be achieved and when. We listed all possibilities as per lateral thinking, but then could look at the realities and devise plans for achievement now, next year and in 10 years - and put some aside until someone left us the million dollars!
