Personnel requirements

1. Physique

(a) Outdoor work, all weathers.

Free from chest complaints, arthritis, etc.

(b) Long distances to be walked, stairs to be climbed.

Free from chronic leg ailments, flat feet and other complaints.

(c) Loads to be lifted on and off vehicle: crates with bottles of milk and produce to be carried when walking and climbing stairs.

Of at least average fitness and strength. Free from back troubles, arm or leg deformities.
(d) Need to read from and write in rounds book in varying grades of light.
Normal eyesight/corrected vision; free from 'night blindness'.

(e) Deal with customers.

Acceptable personal appearance.

2. Attainments

(a) Education

Legible handwriting.

(b) Driving licence.

Must hold a current driving licence covering the type of vehicle he or she is to drive.

(c) Relevant experience.

Outdoor work; work involving driving, contact with public, handling cash.

(d) Employment record.

Sound, dependable record with absence of long breaks between jobs and not an excessive number of jobs over recent years.

Basic communicating skills and education; dependable employment record.

3. Aptitudes

(a) Handling cash.

Mental arithmetic sufficient to cope with simple accounting procedures. Ability to handle cash.

(b) Rounds book to be maintained accurately and up-to-date.

Administrative skill to maintain founds book.

4. Intelligence

(a) Company policies.

Must be capable of learning and understanding company rules and pricing structure.
